Final Resignation Letter
Below is my resignation letter that I sent to the elders at Calvary Monroe informing them of my decision to step down as a pastor/elder. This letter preceeded our mutual announcement to the congregation. I’m sharing this letter as a testimony of the love and respect I have for these men, as well as a resource for any other individual(s) looking for an example of how to resign from a ministry position gracefully and with respect.
Dear Brothers,
This letter is to formally inform you, the elders of Calvary Monroe, of my resignation, effective at the end of March 2017.
Sharing this news is hard because we have grown to love this fellowship over the past 4.5 years. However, as I mentioned in my previous letter to you when I stepped down as an elder, we have been committed to prayerfully seeking our next steps as a family for some time now, and we believe God has provided an answer to that question for us – starting with a relocation to San Antonio Texas in May. This is a decision that we have made for the betterment of our family particularly as it relates to our marriage, our children and our future financial well-being.
Finally, it goes without saying that we love the people at Calvary. We truly want to see them grow in their love for Jesus and be motivated to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God’s presence, and to live for God’s glory. And you, dear brothers – It has been a such an honor to serve Jesus with you. I am truly humbled to know each one of you and look forward to hearing of the great things that God will be doing through this ministry!
Your friend and your brother in Christ,
Rob Loomis
